The design for RYSE hotel is firmly rooted in the vibrant surroundings of the Hongdae neighbourhood in Seoul. At once an urban hotel, and a luxurious oasis, the experience offers a tactile approach that is both polished and raw. A hotel, hub, marketplace and gallery connecting guests to the creative pulse of Seoul.
Board marked and rough concrete textures are used alongside marble, and a dramatic pink resin floor within the entrance lobby to create a dramatic living room for the neighbourhood, inviting the locals into the triple height space, with entrances on both sides. The stepped cafe area is a perfect forum to watch the world go by, and enjoy fantastic coffee.

The check in lobby is on the third floor, with a visual connection made from the entrance up to the lobby with a hole cut through the shell of the building and an eyecatching artwork suspended through. The check in itself is an inviting tactile space that showcases local publications and zines to fully immerse the guests in the local creative scene, with mesh dividers and a dramatic spiral stair up to the restaurant, and lush red carpet.

With a panoramic roof terrace comes The Side Note Club, a moody cocktail bar that is an audiophiles dreamworld with a locally sourced vinyl library.

The bedrooms maximise the footprint of each space available using clever storage solutions within the entrance lobbies to create the feeling of larger spaces, as well as opening up bathrooms with windows and glazed doors that deconstruct the typical hotel room layout.

The bathrooms use a contemporary urban palette of terrazzo and white brick bonded tiling, with accent tinted mirrors that evoke the warm sunset from the hotel.
