We were asked to refurbish a 1950’s apartment overlooking Springfield Park in Clapton, London, which was entirely unmodernised. The changes to the layout were subtle, creating a new opening to the kitchen through the living room and allowing the main space to become dual aspect. A new layout for the kitchen and bathroom allowed for a clean, simple series of spaces maximising natural light. The materials chosen included a feature reclaimed floor from a former army gym made from mahogany, with paint lines from the various courts still in evidence, and a bathroom floor of Yves Klein blue lava stone tiles.
